Introduction

We recently took a look at Maxfield’s MaxJoy MP3 player which was aimed squarely at the younger generation of music listeners. We deemed that whilst the sound quality of the MaxJoy was exceptional, the player lacked funcionality and had some fairly serious issues with its firmware, by which it seemed to shutdown upon disconnection from a PC requiring a reset to get it going again. This was all the more frustrating when you consider that the MaxJoy’s older brother, the G-Flash Metal, shares exactly the same menu system and presumably a very similar firmware, but does it suffer the same issues?

Well Maxfield have kindly sent us a G-Flash Metal to take a look at, priced at around £110 and encased in a neat looking brushed aluminium case the G-Flash is for the more mature user, but is it any good?
